5 reasons for Ikea shelving systems

5 reasons for Ikea shelving systems

There’s actually one main reason for Ikea shelving system: a worktop, any worktop, should be free.

And while there’s nothing wrong with decorating the kitchen, or a workspace, to create a space you enjoy spending time in, a cluttered surface leads only to frustration.

Bearing that in mind, here’s why we’re sure shelving systems could help: Continue reading “5 reasons for Ikea shelving systems”

August favourites

August favourites

So, do you think the summer is officially over or you’re watching the rain outside still hoping you’ll get to swim a couple of times more this year?
We got to admit we love Indian summer. If only we can for sure say we’ll get to enjoy it by the sea somewhere.

We had some time off this August. It was short but sweet and we still wish it could’ve lasted a bit longer. But when you know you’re somewhere for a short period of time you plan your time better. And we did just that!

Now we’re back in the city, happy that our plants survived our time off. We’re helping our sisters decorate a toddler bedroom and waiting for the wall tiles for Tina’s kitchen and for Nina’s kitchen too (can’t wait for these makeovers).
Also, I was so sad my quick vacation was over I did some online shopping to cure the depression.

It worked!

So we decided to make the August list of our favourites.

Enjoy! Continue reading “August favourites”

New from Ikea – August News and Sammanhang collection

New from Ikea – August News and Sammanhang collection

You’ll hate us for saying this, but… summer’s almost over. Yup, so sad… We know that because Ikea has two new collections in August.

Our summer was pretty busy this year and to tell you the truth we’re not big fans of a ‘you don’t have a proper summer vacation’ summers. But sometimes life’s just not fair.
And since we’re running out of ideas (and free friends) on how to spend our afternoons and evenings having a perfect summer in the city last week we decided to go to Ikea. Tina is still furnishing her new apartment, so why not? It’s not like we’ll buy something we don’t need. 🙂

We’ve already scrolled through the new catalogues and it was time to go see all of it in person.

So, have you seen what Ikea prepared for this August? We’re in love! We spotted few must-have items – especially if you’re an organizational freak! And you know we are, or at least we try our best to be…

New Ikea collections for our March favourites

New Ikea collections for our March favourites

We’re not sure about your level of excitement right now, but ours is pretty high.

Have you seen what Ikea prepared for this April? We’re mesmerized!

And how could we not love Ikea designs? Something for everybody – that’s their motto! As we were scrolling through the new catalogues (we spent almost the whole March scrolling around), we spotted few must-have items – not because they are so hip and trendy, but because they are designed as something we wished we owned ten years ago and will want to own ten years from now!

We’ll show you our favourites and introduce you to those collections, and we hope you’ll also find something for your must-have list. One of those is limited edition collection, that means they are here today but might be gone tomorrow so be quick and smart. Enjoy! Continue reading “New Ikea collections for our March favourites”

Tips and tricks for a perfect bedroom

Tips and tricks for a perfect bedroom

My friend said the other day: “Nothing is more photogenic than a ‘messy’ bed.”

This is so so soo true. At home, we try to make our bed as neat as possible but on social media, we seem to like those messy ones a bit more. Why is that?
Layers. It is all about layers.

Although as architects we seem to enjoy designing the space, and by that we mean carefully thinking about every little detail, sometimes all you can do in a room is decorate, and by that we mean carefully thinking about casually placing every piece of furniture and decoration in it.

Bedroom, in our opinion, is that kind of room. It is the most private room in the apartment and probably the only one where your guests never walk in – unless invited ;), it is your little oasis and you should style it the way that you’ll feel amazing in it. Small and functional IKEA kitchen

Small and functional IKEA kitchen

You may know by now that we are huge Ikea fans. Since that seems to be an unusual thing for architects to say, we would like to elaborate it:

1. We really believe in ‘democratic design’. Of course, we love wonderfully designed furniture by both renowned and young designers, and we think that prices of those products are more than fair. That being said, we are aware that most people can’t afford them but still deserve to live in a stylish home.

2. We don’t think that everyone should be buying and renovating old furniture in order to have ‘unique stuff’ when they can’t afford new ‘unique stuff’ because people have different interests and it’s ok not to spend all your time searching for furniture unless you really want to.
