5 reasons for Ikea shelving systems

There’s actually one main reason for Ikea shelving system: a worktop, any worktop, should be free.

And while there’s nothing wrong with decorating the kitchen, or a workspace, to create a space you enjoy spending time in, a cluttered surface leads only to frustration.

Bearing that in mind, here’s why we’re sure shelving systems could help:

1. They are multifunctional

It’s really up to you to choose the function for this unit. And the function could basically be anything from breakfast station to cookware storage. Think of it as a way to compensate for what is missing. And make sure to choose the appropriate system and its components accordingly – depending on the way you plan to use your shelving system, you might need more open shelves or maybe cupboards to hold unattractive looking items.

2. It is easy to fit them into any design

These systems are like a neutral background for what you plan to fill them with.
Choose whatever you feel would fit better into your kitchen and you won’t regret it!

3. They keep the things on hand, but out of sight

Sugar bowl, cutting board, cookbooks, toaster, bottle opener… so many things we use on daily basis or even multiple times throughout the day. We either keep taking them out of the kitchen cabinets and putting them back again, or we eventually give up and just leave them laying around.

You probably agree that both solutions suck.

Shelves like these help you organize these items in a way that makes them look stylish and cool, but also easy to find and grab when you need them. Win-win, right?

4. You can redecorate them anytime you want

Need a change? Redecorating these shelves would instantly refresh the entire room.

5. You can explore your options

Too often it’s hard to make up your mind and go for something you’re not sure about, and that’s why we love how easy it is so to move or remove components, as well as install additional ones, in case you realize the unit doesn’t work as good as you hoped it would. Or in case you decide to change its function.

I chose Kungsfors for my kitchen, and I love it. I use it to store random stainless steel things I had around the house. And to display reindeer salt and pepper shakers.

Petra thinks I should turn it into breakfast station. It would make skipping breakfast almost impossible, so she’s probably right.
